Securing Laravel PSA: Substack -> Ghost Migration is (mostly) Complete! (pt2)
Did you receive the Part 1 email from Ghost?
Greetings friends,
I just sent out an email from Ghost, the new home of Securing Laravel, to all subscribers with details of the migration - the content of that email is below.
I’ve sent this email from Substack as a sanity check in case anyone was somehow missed in the migration!
If you didn’t get an email titled “Securing Laravel PSA: Substack -> Ghost Migration is (mostly) Complete! (pt1)”, please first check your spam filters, and if you still don’t have it, go sign up at https://securinglaravel.com AND reach out to let me know (just reply to this email).
This will be the last of my “PSA” emails about the migration, and the last email I send through Substack.
The email I sent through Ghost:
Greetings my friends,
I am excited to let you know that the Substack → Ghost migration is (mostly) complete!
The really big tasks are all done: billing has been switched over, the domain is updated, all of the posts should be here, and redirects are in place to catch broken pages. There is still a pile of content stuff to update though, such as including adding tags to every post (because they were completely lost 😔), fixing up styling, and figuring out what to do about the lack of footnotes... 😭 I'll work on this stuff over the coming weeks as I get time.
The fact you've received this email means you've been successfully added into Ghost - there are some notes below, but you should be all good! 🎉 I'll send out an email to everyone on Substack too, in case anyone was somehow missed. Feel free to ignore it, if you've received this one.
Thank you so much for your patience while I worked through this migration! It has been a lot more involved than I expected, with a few fun curveballs to deal with that made it harder, but the worst is over. I really appreciate your support of Securing Laravel, and thank you for putting up with this disruption. We'll return to our weekly emails after this one.
To answer the obvious questions, here's what you need to know about the migration:
To get access to your new account, head over to https://securinglaravel.com and click "Sign in". It should prompt you for your email, and send you a magic login link to give you access to your account.
Free subscribers shouldn't see any change in how things operate - you'll receive weekly security tips and monthly In Depth article previews.
Paid subscribers should still be on exactly the same billing cadence and amount as before - the Stripe subscriptions were not modified, just connected, so nothing should have changed. That said, please reach out if you notice anything weird - or just want to confirm your billing details are correct. I can manually fix anything that's gone weird, or issue refunds if you're billed incorrectly.
Team/Group subscribers however will notice a difference. Ghost doesn't support group subscriptions, so whoever was the primary user will have the subscription set for the number of users you paid for. It may not be reflected in the UI. I'll reach out individually to each of you to confirm what's happening with it in the next week or two.
As always, please reach out if you have any concerns or questions about the migration!
Also let me know if you notice anything broken or weird on the site, or in the emails. I'd rather be spammed with a lot of emails reporting the same broken post than not hear about it.
Thank you once again for your support. 🥰
Thanks,
Stephen
P.s. I'm supposed to be sending out an In Depth this weekend, but at this stage I'll probably swap it for a Tip and do the In Depth next week.
